Why do people flock to The Olive Garden?

And buffets...

Don't get me started on buffets. The horrible things diners do there could start a new thread. I'll give you one story.

A little oriental woman in her 40's and her mother are seated next to my girl and I. By the time we came back with our soup and salad their table was covered with 8 plates. Steaks and shrimp and chicken and rolls and potatoes as high as the plates could hold. They were like animals using both hands to shove the food into their mouths. It was like a machine. They went back for more and saved some room for desert. Funny thing was that they were able to do this while having a conversation.

I love buffets, but you are so right. Seeing the way some people eat at buffets disgusts me. I especially hate when they get a plate full of food, eat half of it, then go back up to the buffet for more, leaving half a plate of food still sitting at the table for the waitress to take back and throw away.

We have all been to places where we pocket a few cookies or a donut for the road. Older dude comes into the buffet. He has 2 tote bags and starts pulling out aluminum foil. This guy came prepared to jack the food bar and he did. Unless this guy had ice packs, I don't know what his bus smelled like on his way back from Atlantic City.

:1orglaugh I used to stop occasionally at a pizza joint that had a buffet and this incredibly obese family of 4 (I mean huge! The man was so fat, he had to turn sideways to walk in the front door of the place ) showed up and literally descended on the buffet table like a plague of locusts. Through sheer bulk they were able to bull their way into the buffet area and push other people out of the way. They each had multiple plates and in no time they had piled 8-10 pieces of pizza on each of them. I saw the man take EVERY piece of a fresh pizza that had just been served. Within a matter of minutes, there was no food at all left for anyone else and even though people were complaining to the manager, he just shrugged his shoulders and said "hey it's an all-you-can-eat buffet so what can I do???" Some people began making comments to the family about leaving some food for others but they just ignored them and continued loading up their plates and stuffing their faces like pigs feeding at the trough. It was an incredible display of gluttony like I have never seen before or since.

Olive Garden isn't that bad in Michigan. I usually get the Tour of Italy. But my wife's cooking is a gazillion times better than Olive Garden. Also you can make your own salads since they sell their dressing at Sams Club now. Taco Bell is horrible, especially if you have people that don't care working there. I used to love them, but now I question if I really want them or if I am having a craving for them. Red Lobster is decent. I havn't been to one in here in Michigan in a while, but I went out to one in Omaha which was pretty decent.

I struggle getting through the sub-par Italian cuisine, salad and breadsticks are hard to mess up. However I'll always look forward to the Black Tie Mousse Cake for dessert.

That's a good point. Appetizers and desserts are usually pretty good at places like that.

The food is terrible. The meatball marinara at Subway is more authentic Italian.

the food is what it is. I have family that enjoys going there and I do too when I'm with them.

Because Italian food is best made where it originated. In America.

That's disgusting. But what did the people complaining to the manager expect the manager to do? Kick out the obese people? Yeah right. Tell the obese people to stop eating so much? Yeah right.

Chinese buffet has $7 lunch, $13 dinner. All is good food. 40 hot items plus a cold station. The only real difference is that they serve crab legs for dinner. During the week it is cool. On the weekends a different crowd comes out. A dozen people will line up by the kitchen waiting for the crab to come out. Some will poke their heads into the kitchen to demand the crab.

Fucking animals start grabbing them before the girl can drop them into the tray. Rather than eat something else they chose to stand there hungry for 10 minutes. This isn't king crab so work has to be done to fetch whatever meat you can. I like fresh crab just like the next guy but at what point.......
